KEYSTONE HABITS
The "Being Challenge" encouraged us to imitate Jesus by developing the habits He Himself used to hold together his life and ministry on earth, like the keystones still do for these arches on a Roman aqueduct at Caesarea on the Mediterranean coast of Israel.
The "Keystone Habits" (in the order you'll see them below) are
1Choosing Church
2Studying Scripture
3Prioritizing Prayer
4Seeking Solitude
5Committing to Community

SEEKING SOLITUDE
The Lent season is
March 5 through April 19
As we work together through the "original" Red Letter Challenge during this Lent, please plan to take some time to be alone with Jesus, to read each daily devotion, to think about what the words of Jesus mean to you, and do the suggested exercizes . If you're sharing the book with someone,
that's fine - but also try to practice this "Keystone Habit" as often as possible.
COMMITTING TO COMMUNITY
CLICK HERE>> TO LEARN ABOUT WHAT'S COMING IN MARCH AND APRIL FOR
Our Christ the King Community: March Birthdays and events at Christ the King and among our friends!
Our faith community partners: The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, SELC District, Lutheran Women's Missionary League's Website, LCEF (Lutheran Church Extension Fund)
Our local community partners: Alcoholics Anonymous, The Matthew 25 Coalition, Medina County Office for Older Adults, and Feeding Medina County (with a link to a schedule of monthly food pantries and distributions), and the Oaks Family Care Center in Brunswick
At Christ the King, we help our neighbors in need through our participation in the Matthew 25 Coalition of churches. You can find minutes and reports from the latest meeting HERE>>
COMMITTING TO COMMUNITY - Alcoholics Anonymous
At Christ the King, part of our “commitment to community” means that
for a number of years we have provided free meeting space in our Parish Hall
for Alcoholics Anonymous groups –
Sundays at 7 pm
Mondays at 7:30 pm
Tuesdays at 5 pm (for women).
Each meeting is one hour long.
For more information about these groups, see Pastor Cahill
or click the link above.
Hearts and Hands in Service
The Red Letter "Serving Challenge" helped us to think about why, how, and where we can serve others as we considered our Attitude, Availability, Action, Ability, and Action
Where might YOU serve?
In this section we suggest opportunities for you to serve, or learn to serve, at Christ the King Lutheran Church.
Could one of these be for you?
(No age or gender limits on these, that we can think of!)
Light Cleaning
Each week at Christ the King, somebody (often, two somebodies) vacuums the carpets, wipes down counters, cleans the bathrooms, and empties the trash.
All this takes a couple of hours - set your own schedule.
Contact Betty Olah if this might be a way you could serve.
Reading in Worship Services
Christmas pageants are good times to hear various people reading the Bible or other parts of worship services. If you've got a good, strong voice, but can't carry a tune in a bucket, what about reading Scripture readings or prayers during Sunday morning worship services?
Contact Pastor Cahill if this might be a way you could serve.
Livestream technology
Each Sunday at about 7:30 am, somebody needs to turn on the sanctuary sound system, the laptop and camera, and set up the Facebook livestreaming feed.
Each Sunday after the last worship service, somebody (else) needs to shut down the laptop and turn off all the technology).
Contact Pastor Cahill, who will teach you everything you need to know.
Web-Weaver
At any given time there are several Christ the King websites in service (some of them are linked to this one); Pastor Cahill has been the one behind most of these. Most are easy to use, if you're willing to invest a litte time into learning.
Contact Pastor Cahill, who will teach you everything you need to know.
Graphics Genius
Pastor Cahill uses Canva to make these fancy signs and graphics for "Grace Notes" and signs at Christ the King. How about you? Do you have fun with Canva - or are you a serious graphic designer with an itch to serve?
Contact Pastor Cahill if this might be a way you could serve.
The Original Red Letter Challenge returned March 2!
Over the past several years, at Christ the King we've completed all the Red Letter Challenges - the Being Challenge, the Forgiving Challenge, the Serving Challenge, and most recently, the Red Letter Advent. This Lent season we go back to the original Red Letter Challenge (the "OGRLC") and review or learn how this discipleship journey began! If you still have your OGRLC book, please dig it out, brush it off, get a new pen, and join us. If you need a book, let Pastor Cahill know and he'll save one for you!

Featured this Month (March)
Podcasts, blogs, devotions, and more!
"TABLE TALKS"
Wednesdays, 7 pm
"The Original"
Red Letter Challenge
(OGRLC)
You are invited to join any of the "Table Talk" conversations hosted by Pastor Cahill in the months to come. These conversations will help us all to think about what questions or concerns you might have as we walk forward together into the future - questions like, "What do we do after Pastor Cahill retires?" "How do we get another pastor?" "How long until we get another pastor?" and more
"Table Talks" will be at Christ the King every Wednesday evening, 7-8:15 pm. Bring your family!
(If you want a ZOOM link, just ask Pastor Cahill and he'll send it to you)
You can read notes and summaries from each "Table Talk" after they happen HERE>>
Featured blog
"How to Choose Not to Choose" is the latest post from Allison Zehnder on the Red Letter Living blog. Allison encourages us to think more carefully about the things we choose to do, especially as we approach the season of Lent (began March 5).
And during Lent, at Christ the King we're going back to the original RED LETTER CHALLENGE for our worship services, Sunday Bible Studies, Wednesday Table Talks, and more!
Head on over to this site to learn more!
"Grace Notes - Recent Sermons"
If you miss one or more of our worship services and sermons, we invite you to go over to this new page in "Grace Notes." There you can find a sermon clip like the one below, a link to the sermon as a podcast episode, a link to the recorded 10:45 service on YouTube, and more (you might share these with a friend, too)
NOTE: Beginning in March, "Recent Sermons" complete videos will be posted on YouTube only. You don't need to have a YouTube account to click the link and watch the videos.
