Face masks at Christ the King

A new directive from Ohio Governor Mike DeWine

· Precautions

Dear friends in Christ,

Greetings in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Yesterday, July 22, in the continuing effort to fight the Coronavirus, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine ordered facemasks to be worn in public throughout the state, regardless of the “public health emergency level” of any particular county. You can find details of the order here; but at Christ the King Lutheran Church this will mean the following:

If you come to Christ the King for any reason, we encourage you to

  • Check your own health first, including your temperature, before deciding to come

  • Practice social distancing everywhere, especially according to the sanctuary seating and floor markings at the Communion rail

  • Practice good hand hygiene, using sanitizers placed throughout the building

If you come to Christ the King to participate in a worship service, Bible Class, or to participate in a meeting (including Alcoholics Anonymous), we expect you to wear a facemask and to keep it on the whole time you’re in the building (you don’t have to wear one outside as long as you observe the 6-foot social distance rule). Please note that per the Governor’s order the following persons will not be expected to wear a facemask at Christ the King:

  • Children under 10 years old

  • Persons with a medical condition or disability, or persons communicating with someone with a disability

If you forget to bring a facemask with you, a limited supply of disposable face-masks are available near either entrance door; please feel free to take one to use while you’re in the building, and take it with you.

If you’re wearing a facemask in the building, you may remove it temporarily to receive Holy Communion or if you’re actively eating or drinking, but please reposition it afterward.

Pastor Cahill will wear a mask in the building when others are present, and particularly while entering and leaving the sanctuary, during the prayers, and while consecrating and distributing Holy Communion; however, he will remove his facemask while he leads worship services from the lectern or preaches (per the Governor’s July 22 order).

Thank you in advance for your understanding and continued care for one another in this difficult time for all!
