Where it is
- Lake Mary, Florida – an hour north of Orlando, near Sanford
- All the Convention events and meals will at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Lake Mary (a member congregation of the SELC District)
- Convention housing will be at a nearby hotel (Hyatt Place or Homewood Suites)
What goes on there
- Worship services
- An evening service the first day
- Three or four short devotional services throughout each day
- Worship with the “host congregation” on Sunday morning
- Reports, greetings and presentations by guest speakers and representatives of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod President
- Elections of District officers, Board members, and other servants
- "Excursion" for pastors’ wives & non-voting attendees
- GREAT food and hospitality at the host congregation!
- Lots of wonderful people to get to know, and reconnect with
When it is
- Thursday, January 16 – Sunday, January 19, 2025
- Probably Thursday will be a “travel day,” with an opening worship in the evening
- As a District Vice President, Pastor Cahill will have to get there on Wednesday, January 15, to attend a Board of Directors meeting on Thursday morning
- Sunday we’ll have morning worship, finishing up whatever business is left to do, then everyone leaves after lunch
Who is going, how do they get there, where do they stay
- Each congregation gets to send two delegates (and maybe also an alternate)
- The pastor is one
- The other is a layperson from the congregation (in the past we’ve sometimes sent one layperson as our delegate, and sometimes one as the delegate and another as the alternate). The designated delegates get to vote; the alternates get to watch.
Who pays for what
- Christ the King pays registration, hotel, and airfare for each delegate or alternate
- Registration $275 per person – covers meals, convention costs.
- Hotel $139-179 per night (total up to $800 per room)
- Airfare – Varies
- Individual out-of-pocket may include on-the-way meals, rental car, miscellaneous
