Voters' Assembly UPDATE

UPDATE - as anticipated and requested, the Voters' Assembly meeting on September 8

  • approved / elected Joe Ryncarz as our Lay Delegate and Tom Reece as Alternate Delegate to the Convention (Pastor Cahill is our Pastoral Delegate)
  • approved the nominations of various individuals for SELC District officers, board members, and other servants (see the list below)
  • approved amending the 2024 budget lines by re-labeling "2023 LCMS CONVENTION" to "2025 SELC CONVENTION" and amending the 2024 amount from $0.00 to $3000

On Monday, September 9, Pastor Cahill drove to St John Lutheran Church in Massillon, Ohio, and hand-delivered our delegate credentials forms, nominations forms and other required convention forms to SELC District Secretary Rev. John Telloni.

 

 

At their scheduled meeting on Sunday, August 18, 2024, the Christ the King Lutheran Church Council discussed the upcoming SELC District Convention (more HERE>>) and

  • Accepted the offer of Joe Ryncarz to be Christ the King's lay delegate to the SELC District Convention, and the offer of Tom Reece to be the alternate lay delegate to the convention
  • Discussed the rough estimate of expected convention costs ($3000). Although the convention is in January, most of these costs will be incurred in 2024. It did not occur to anyone to plan for this when we developed and approved the 2024 budget.
    • Convention costs rough estimate (minimum):
      • 2 Registrations @ $275 each = $550
      • 2 hotel rooms @ $800 each = $1600
      • 2 airfare (CLE - MCO) @ $250 each = $500
      • Total minimum rough estimate $2650
  • Agreed to schedule a special Voters' Assembly meeting on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at 9:30 am with ONLY these THREE agenda items:
    • Approval / election of Lay Delegate and Alternate Delegate
    • Approval of nominees for various SELC District officers, board members, and other servants (below)
    • Approval of amending the 2024 budget lines

NOTE: The due date for submitting names of delegates to the SELC District Secretary is Sunday, September 15. The names of our delegates will be submitted Sunday afternoon, September 8.
